the human kind by generating a flood, where only the Mesopotamian Noah was granted eternity. Gilgamesh wanted to become immortal too –he did not want to suffer and die as his friend Enkidu did-, so he consulted Noah, but failed to be granted. Finally, he recognized that the real eternity resides on the continuity of the human kind and all what they have achieved and not in the individual’s immortality.
This summary gives a general idea about Gilgamesh Epic in both versions. However, as mentioned before, each one of the two books tells the story in a different manner. For instance, when Gilgamesh insults Ishtar -who feels a strong sexual desire for him after he kills Humbaba- Pritchard says: “What am I to give thee, that I may take thee in marriage?
