The Flintlock Pistol

The flintlock pistol was one of the first firearms invented. It was made in 1630 by a man named Marlin le Bourgeoys. He made the pistol for King Louis XIII. The flintlock mechanism replaced the matchlock and wheellock mechanisms.
Around 1650 they started to invent breech-loading flintlocks. In some of these types of flintlock pistols the barrel was screwed on and off for easier reloading. Another name for this type of pistol was the Queen Anne pistol. It got this name because it became the most popular during her reign.
