a man for Laura. They bickered back and forth in such a childlike manner that Tom eventually asked whether or not she wanted to know about the eligible bachelor. After Amanda’s excitement reached its peak, she returned to her old ways when Tom replied Jim, Laura’s date, was coming “tomorrow.” Once again, by showing just how quickly her attitude shifts, Tom is displayed as a victim. By using his past, Williams was able to make you uncomfortable in the best way possible. The relationship with his mother fulfilled you for only so long though, until Tom escapes from her gripping attitude.
Lighting was the most important image Williams created as a playwright. He dimmed it in times of lust and romance.
