A young Indian boy by the name Piscine Patel, also known as Pi, 16, was the son of a Zookeeper. However, so many faults and economy had downfallen; the father decided that they would leave India and move to America. Because of the currency difference between the two countries, they couldn't afford plane tickets, so they chose to sell the animals to other zoos in America. of the rain, the rain began to poor harder and harder. As he danced and giggled, the large boat begin to sway back and forth harshly against the agitated waves. Soon, the front deck is covered in sea water and the ship slowly begins to go under. He sees the people aboard bring out the life boat for people to flee. As the ship men discover Pi out on deck they grab him and scurry him to the life boat. As he repeatedly screamed, "My family! My family is in there, please rescue them! My father doesn't know how to swim!" As they ignored his commands, they forced him on the life boat as he watches the animals scatter and charge in fear for their lives. As they lower the boat, a zebra had jumped into the life boat trying to escape! While the boat dives down into the water, the other ship man had fallen off due to harsh waves.
