Silk Road, a trade route that supposedly linked the Western Roman Empire with the imperial court of China that started in 200AD and ended with the Mongul Empire. The scientists discovered a grave site at Cherchen that held several 3,500-year-old bodies. These were far better preserved than anything ever found in Egypt, due to the extremely dry air and because the burial was cut into a salt bed that quickened the process of dehydration. It was even possible to readily see that the bodies were dressed in exquisitely dyed clothing that had neither rotted nor even faded over the thousands of years. Here was "Cherchen Man." This was a perfect find to break that annoying bias about Egypt being the place for mummies.
