The Polar Regions are Disappearing

The Majority of the people in the world cannot stand the cold. Little do people realize that cold weather is important to have. The cold air and snow are important to the animals and people. As the temperatures are rising, the polar regions are decreasing and melting away. People do need to be concerned because the polar bears are becoming extinct, our lives will be affected whether it is food or our homes, and there are so many things that people around the world could do to help prevent this tragic life-changing event from happening soon.

With the warm temperatures increasing, they will die of the heat. The melting glaciers and global warming are not just affecting the polar bears; they are affecting people, too. Glaciers are snow and ice. When they melt, they turn into water that causes the sea level to rise and could eventually flood land where people live. “As frozen ground thaws many buildings [. . .] are likely to be destabilized” (“U.S. Environmental Protection Agency”). This means that as time goes by and ice is melting and freezing again, buildings could become damaged and weak. The global warming that is causing all of this to occur also affects man’s food supply: “Warming is likely to alter soils, vegetation, and coastal oceans” (Martin). If soil is affected, then growing crops will be affected, and people will have a decrease in food supply. With all of this happening, everyone can still combat global warming.
