The Lord of the Rings was written in 1948 by J.R.R Tolkien who served as lieutenant in World War I, and was influenced from the war. Thanks to its original content, The Lord of the Rings impressed many people around the world, but what actually impressed people is its variety of themes and messages that touches people. i hope to show how critics has misinterpretation women's role in the novel by giving my own opinions. I will show women's actual side in the novel.
The female characters that appear in Tolkien's work are criticized for their passivity, insignificance, and stereotypical roles. The trilogy written by a male author has a huge effect on female characters. It is definitely true that LOTR centers mainly male characters, with only three or four female characters have an important part to play. The author created powerful male characters in the novel. However, these powerful male characters are suppressed by the more powerful female characters that Tolkien created. It shows us his feminist side. King of Angmar who is commander of Mordor region and also known as Nazgul is one of the strong male character in the novel. It is said that in the film or in the novel no man can kill him.
