A young male named Jimmy Cross, in his early twenties who lead a group of army in Vietnam. Many tend to argue this character is against all aspects of war, while others feel he is for the war.

Some soldiers carried pictures, while others carried good luck charms. (2) The soldiers arrive at a dark tunnel. As active soldiers are, they investigate the tunnel looking for their opposition. (3) As one of the soldiers exit the tunnel, he gets shot in the head causing warfare to erupt. (4) Jimmy Cross decides to burn the city down, leaving nothing behind. (5) As soldiers wait for a jet to take them home, they remise about the frightening experience of what just occurred.

Tone:

Horrified by the events of war, soldiers had no choice but to go to War. The soldiers fell victim to the United States government.

Style:

Written as if it was told from the authors point-of-view. The authors use of profanity, (fuc* off), in line 38 of the story made the story more graphic. The author was also very descriptive when he was describing the type of weapons each soldier carried.

While in the war, each soldier carried something to make them feel safe. Some ...
