Argument of Film:

Sergei Eisenstein's 1925 classic Battleship Potemkin contains the most potent use of sustained montage ever put on film. It prompted the German filmmaker Max Reinhardt, on watching it for the first time, to declare: "The theatre died tonight! Theatre is dead." It also resulted in such an effective depiction of rebellion through the use of montage technique that the film was banned in several countries for fear that it would evoke rebellion among the population.
