of Socrates’ method occurred while he was standing trial for believing against the norm. He was his own defense and put Meletus, his accuser, on the stand and asked him a series of questions. He first convinces Meletus to say that Socrates is the only person in Athens that corrupts the youth and that everyone else makes them good citizens. He then uses an analogy to horses where he explains that in this case only a few men can make horses better, but the unskilled majority of men can only do harm to horses. He then points out that the young would be very fortunate if everyone made them good citizens and only Socrates had the ability to corrupt them. Through this he proved that Meletus did not really think his argument through and never really cared about youth.
