The next form of writing rose up almost in direct opposition to traditionalism. This is revisionism. Two historians T.W Moody and Ruth Dudley-Edwards started the process of Irish revisionism during the 1930’s. However it did not surface into the mainstream until the 1970’s. Revisionists would try and remain objective when writing about history. This is nearly impossible as it is natural to take one side of an argument when depicting history. Revisionism is a re-examination of the facts. Many of the revisionists are motivated to correct histories, they see as wrong. It helps to give us a new viewpoint on written history.
