Essay on To Kill A Mockingbird. Parents always look out for their children and try to provide for them. They also punish their children for misbehaving. Harper Lee portrays a father, Atticus and how he gets himself and his children through tough times, in her novel To Kill A Mockingbird. This essay shows the relationship between Atticus and my mother. Like Atticus, my mother does not feel that all blacks are evil, and that all of them lie. Atticus always listens to both children, as Scout says: "Well, in the first place you never stopped to gimme a chance to tell you my side of it--you just lit right into me. Whin Jem an' I fuss Atticus doesn't ever just listen to Jem's side of it, he hears mine too, an' in the second place you told me never to use words like that..." (Lee, 85-86). Scout tells Uncle Jack that Atticus always treats her fairly, and he does not. My mother is like Uncle Jack in that manner. She will jump to conclusions and will not listen to what I have to say (or my brother, depending on the circumstances). That is one of the aspects of Atticus I wish my mother had.
