In America, a current problem that we are experiencing is a rise in unemployment. Very few sectors of the work force have been hit as hard as the construction industry; ever since the economy crashed in 2008, there has been a decline in construction jobs. The construction industry is currently facing a 13.3 percent unemployment rate; however, when compared to the national average of “9.1” percent, it is obvious to see that the construction work field has been greatly impacted by our economic recession (American Surveyor).“If this problem is not fixed, then it will put many construction businesses out of work, as well as my own”, said John Elliot. While it won’t cover all forms of corporate construction work, it will help road construction companies. Many roads all across the United States need rebuilt as many of them are dangerous and worn out. Not only will this solution help produce jobs, it will also help create safer and more advanced roads that are very much needed.
While this solution is very effective, it does have its downsides. This will instantly create jobs but, as a result, there is no guarantee as to how long these jobs will last. There are only so many roads that we can repair in our local surroundings. Also, what will we do when the stimulus money runs out? We would have to resort to local taxpayer dollars in order to continue repairing these roads and, as a result, we would likely have to raise state taxes.
