Until the technology revolution gave businesses an economic imperative to challenge the union hold over labor relations, and the union's definition of what constituted labor relations, the relationships between union and industry had remained significantly unchanged since the end of the Second World War. Industry had changed, and society advanced, partially on the gains in quality of living issues which unions helped create.
