Valued Heroes

One woman’s loving heart and open arms help the poor, sick, and innocent. Another’s courage to take on the responsibility of seven children alone. A person who seeks their trust in faith and God for the strength to thrive above and beyond measures defines heroism. Mother Teresa and Bridget Walsh have shown me the values of heroism that I like to use on a daily bases.
As a little girl I remember sitting in my grandmother’s front living room and staring at this large picture of a nun. It was admiring that large picture of Mother Teresa and the school project which taught me about her life that helped me embraced the values of her heroism.
Being the oldest of seven children to one mother and one father, I have witnessed my mother struggle many times. Bridget Walsh was married to the man of her dreams and has known most of her life. She blessed him with seven children, four girls and three boys. My parents marriage failed and she was left with mouths to feed and bills to pay. My mother always tells me, “let go and let God” and that is exactly what she did. By letting go and letting God take over all the pain and fear, she found the courage to keep life going for herself and us children.
