In South Carolina today, is a symbol of the decrapped world that we live in. It was and is not God’s intention for a person to spend their last dime hoping that this time that they will “hit the big one”. In order to discuss the issue it seems as if we must beat up on the “video industry”. I will show the many problem points of the subject and do me best to bring out any good points, afterwards interjecting me opinion on the subject.

Gamblers are growing be leaps and bounds. In this state there are 19,000 compulsive and 31,000 problem gamblers that cost South Carolina 225 million in programs for these type of people. These programs are making South Carolina the “big loser. The average loss per household is $291.

28% report feeling guilty after playing
14% report feeling depressed
19% wish they could stop playing
5% have considered suicide
78% have received illegal inducements

The next bad part of video poker is the abuse. This abuse includes abuse of finances and the machines, but probable members of the family of a person that just lost it all. People can be seen smacking the machines because they were losing. (3) There is no telling what those people do to their family after a hard day at the machines.
