Vienna Vs. Virginia

You might be saying, “of course Vienna and Virginia are different, there six thousand mile apart on two different continents.” However, in this essay I’ll show you how different they really are through the city layout, language, and transit system. Vienna is the capital of Austria, a country in Europe south of Germany. Virginia is a state in the US on its eastern shore board. With this in mind, I’ll show you their idiosyncrasies.

Language is very different even though English was made from mostly German. American’s have over 900,000 words to choose from. A great many more that the 500,000 the Germans have. The chief reason form this is because where English made a new word, German speaking peoples have just combined two. Map and Landcarte for example.
The transit systems are the most different of the three. Vienna has over 80 busses, 40 Strassenbahns (street cars), 6 U-Bahns (under ground trains and 8 Schellbahns (fast trains that circle the city). It’s the second transit system in the world, next to Japan’s. VA’s TRT (tidewater regional transit) isn’t even ranked. With only 20 busses at it’s disposal, its hard to move around with out a car. Payment is very different as well. Here you pay up front every time you want to ride, but in Vienna its an honor code policy.
