We were never at war with Islam; we were at war with al-Qaida. We have to realize that the people creating this Muslim center and mosque are not terrorists, and had nothing to do with that horrible day. They found a good place to build, and we made it an issue because of our ignorance regarding the subject. The people involved in this process mean no harm by it, but another point to make is that the construction of the Muslim center and Mosque could change the way people generally view Muslims.
The construction could actually be a good thing for our nation, now that it has been blown up into a big problem. I believe that because of the location, many people will see it and possibly experience good things from the Muslim center. This could change the common misconception and ultimate racism towards Muslim people.
