Westboro Baptist Church, founded in 1955 by Fred Phelps Sr. is an American church known for its use of inflammatory hate speech. They "hated" the LGBT+ people, Catholics, Eastern Orthodox Christians, atheists, Muslims, Jews, Mormons, U.S. soldiers and politicians. The church had a total of50 members that were most in Phelps Family. They believe that they are "true Christians" and that their way's were the right ways.

Children who are members of the group because their parents are are completely brainwashed, due to being raised with the radical faith of their family. These children hold some of the obscene signs, and it is likely that these children are too young to understand the political and social issues their families protest.

The Westboro Baptist Church is a counterculture because they reject the norms and practices of normal society by picketing at funerals and having anti gay protest.
