He was born in Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwickshire, England. William was the third out of eight children of John Shakespeare and Mary Arden. John Shakespeare was a glove and leather merchant. He was a major part of the Stratford government, he had became the mayor of Stratford. Mary Arden was the youngest daughter of a land lord and came form an ancient family.
