This article is about the life of Chris Zora. Chris Zora was a boy who grew on Chicago's tough South Side. Throughout his childhood he was criticized because of his weight, speech problem, his heritage and his tendancy to studder. There was one person in his life that lifted his hopes, his mother Zora Zorich.
During his childhood he was teased because he was bi-racial. Other people would call him racist names. Teenagers would hold Chris off the ground and take his money. On other days another person would punch him in the chest, and leave bruises on his body, because he had no money to give to him. the kids starting to laugh he stopped half way through and sat down at his seat with anger inside him. When he got home that night he told his mom what happened and she helped him with the problem. At the end of the school year he wanted to read his essay to the class. When he got in front of the class he read through the poem and mumbled just a bit.

When Zora was told she had severe diabetes and was overweight she had no choice but to turn to public assistance. It was barely enough for rent. He and his mother went to very low extremes. Chris would got to bed at 6 p.m. so he would not be hungry at night time. He knew he would awake to a nice warm breakfast at school.

When Chris was accepted to Chicago Vocational High School in 1983 the football coach asked him, if he wanted to be on the football squad.
