Many years ago abortion was illegal and many women died because they didn’t want to have children. Some tried to terminate the children themselves or let an unprofessional do it for them. In 1973 the Supreme Court decided to let women have the choice to decide if they wanted abortion. Many lives were saved because of this. The medical definition determines that abortion is any termination of pregnancy before twenty weeks. Medically defined, abortion is the “end of a pregnancy before viability.” Therapeutic abortion is the termination of pregnancy via the intervention of a physician through surgery or the use of RU-486 or other medications. Conception is the form of fertilization or creation. An embryo is a stage of prenatal development which starts at three weeks up to eight weeks. Miscarriage is the interruption of pregnancy before the seventh month, this usually happens due to an expulsion of the fetus which happens with out being induced by medical intervention. About a quarter of all pregnancies end in miscarriage.
