I have chosen to write my review over the biography Alexander the Great, by Robin Lane Fox. I chose to write my review over this particular facet of the material we studied, because I showed interest in the life of Alexander.
Fox was born in 1946. Fox attended school at Eton Magdalen College, Oxford. In 1977 Fox became a tutor in Greed and Roman history. In 1990 Fox became a University Reader in Ancient History. Fox has taught classes over Greed and Latin literature and early Islamic history. Fox is now a lecturer in Ancient History at Exeter College, Oxford. Fox’s frame of reference seemed to me to be as close to that of an accurate and unbiased account as possible. His views and opinions of Alexander were not evident.
The Biography is an account of the life of Alexander. He was a Greek leader who built an empire consisting of more than two million square miles. The biography mainly focuses on his accomplishments as a leader with some information on his personal life. I felt that the main theme was about accomplishment and exploration. Alexander claimed many areas and made many contributions to Greek culture through his explorations. Fox also included what Alexander’s thoughts and motives were on some things, but did not state them as if they were his own opinion.
