Modern human society owes its beginnings to the relationship that existed between our earliest ancestors and their connection with animals. Shipman paints a pretty picture about our modern day connection with animals, saying how a number of people choose to live in daily association with animals, and how pet owners receive companionship, health benefits, and unconditional love from these animals (2011: 270-273).
