BCS Vs Playoff System

In the future only teams that make it to the conference championship will make it into the post season. Shocked? Well if these men have it their way, that is how it will be. Teams like LSU and Ohio State could go undefeated in non- conference games and loses only one conference game and would still not make it to the post season with a playoff system. This is one of the many reasons why the Bowl Championship System (BCS) should be protected regarding college football.

reach the post-season. In a playoff system only 16 teams would advance. Making the post-season gives smaller colleges “TV time”; and more popularity from soon to be students and student/athletes. One example of this is Texas Christian University (TCU). Ferguson offers that since TCU has been winning football games there has been an increase in enrollment of students by 18.1%.
Another reason the BCS should be protected is because a playoff season would take away from the regular season, which could happen if the brackets are too large. Think of this, having already clinched a playoff berth Ohio State chooses to rest 15 starters or so for their annual showdown with Michigan. It takes away the whole reason of the rivalry that many college football fans wait all year for; and takes away from the tradition that has been going on since 1897. Chris Suellentrop of Slate Magazine mentions that conference play would be the only games teams would care about with a playoff system. ...
