Oil prices nowadays had been abruptly increasing. From the article entitled "Price and Food Security Update Philippines" issued last August 2012, gradual increase in the average prices of commercial fuels has started last July 2012 after 13 successive weeks of decrease since April. The average price of gasoline has increased by 8.67%, from Php 47.95 per liter in June to Php 52.50 per liter in July. Local diesel prices were reported to be at Php 43.40 per liter, an 8.3% increase from its price last June 2012.

Olive oil, on the other hand, is obtained from olives (Olea europaea), a traditional tree crop of the Mediterranean Basin. It is commonly used as fuel for traditional oil lamps. It has been proven that it can also be a good candidate for biodiesel production, however, because of its relatively high cost of production (Davidson, et.al, 1999).

The use of leaded commercial fuels has caused several problems not only because of its high cost but because of its harmful effect in the environment. Emission of harmful chemicals are greatly reduced with the use of biodiesel compared to commercial ones by up to 100% sulfur dioxide, 48% carbon monoxide, 47% particulate matter, 67% total unburned hydrocarbons and up to 90% reduction in mutagenicity (Lotero, et.al, 2005).

The subjects were Canola oil and Olive oil which both have different level of oil contents. The results for series of experimentations will provide the necessary information needed by the researcher.

This study will have three treatment repeated three times for accuracy purposes. The mean and one way ANOVA will be used for statistical analysis. The treatments are:

Treatment I : ½ liter Canola oil : 1.75 grams NaOH : 100 mL

Treatment II : ½ liter Olive oil : 1.75 grams NaOH : 100 mL
