Call of the Wild Plot Summary

The “Call of the Wild” is a vivid story about a giant and kindhearted dog named Buck, a St. Bernard - Scotch Collie crossbreed. He had his carefree life turned upside down in struggles and danger when he was stolen from his home in Santa Clara County, California. He was sold and taken to the further north, to Dawson City. At that time, the great Klondike Gold Rush is luring both ambitious treasure hunters and daring explorers to Canada's harsh Yukon Territory in the late 1890s, when strong sled dogs were in high demand. In Klondike, he discovers what a hierarchy truly is, and he realizes that authority truly is the power over life and death. Either all dogs have power, and they have to exert it to survive, or they surrender their strength to a larger and stronger dog and can only hope that the dog would safeguard them.
