Causes and Effects of the American Revolution

There are many causes and effects of the American Revolution. Before analyzing the causes and effects of the American Revolution there are a few things you have to keep in mind. The American colonies were founded by people who just wanted to have better lives in general. The British monarchs heavily encouraged and supported the development of new colonies so they could have a new source of wealth and power. The French and Indian War took place about one hundred and fifty years after the first successful colony was founded and lasted from 1754 to 1763. This war took place between the American colonies and New France and both sides allied with different Native American tribes. British troops helped the colonists fight the war and they stayed in the colonies after for protection. However, these troops weren't free and they had to be paid for somehow, so the British Parliament taxed the colonies to help pay for the troops.

Before 1764 and the French and Indian War, the colonies were governing themselves, but in 1764 the British government started to impose new laws and outrageous taxes. Keep in mind they were taxing the colonies without having any representation for the colonists in the British Parliament.
