Choices of Love

Dr. Love, also known as Dr. Leo. F. Buscaglia “Happiness and love are just a choice away.” Love, then, is not a determination of fate, but it is a choice. Romeo and Juliet are two naïve kids who fall in love, leading to them end their own lives. Romeo and Juliet meet their untimely fate due to the choices they had made. When Romeo and Juliet meet, Romeo’s banishment, and their suicides, are all effects of their own doings. Romeo’s decision to attend the Capulet party is his own fault.

“Romeo is banished, there is no end, no limit, measure, bound, in that word's death. No words can that woe sound.” Romeo is the only who can be held at fault for his exile. Tybalt and Mercutio begin a sword fight. The entire time, Romeo is trying to get in between the two and break up the fight. Romeo finally is able to grab hold of Mercutio to try and stop him, when this is occurring, Tybalt takes his sword and thrusts it into Mercutio’s chest, eventually killing him. Had Romeo not attempted to break up the fight, Mercutio may have survived the fight, and Romeo would never have had to avenge Mercutio, leading to Romeo’s banishment. The suicides of Romeo and Juliet are an example of the ultimate choice.
