that shows white educational advantages is that, “64 percent of freshman enrollment despite only being 54 percent of the college-age population” (Smith). The 10 percent gap between 64 percent and 54 percent is huge and shows that there is a problem because it should be 54 percent for it to be even. Another piece of evidence that shows some racial minorities are not getting an equal opportunity is that, “only 7 percent of black freshmen and 12 percent of Latino freshmen attend selective public colleges, despite making up 15 percent and 21 percent of the college-age population respectively” (Smith). The 19 percent gap for racial minorities is huge and illustrates that right now there is no sign of an equal opportunity for black and Hispanic students.

Some argue that what the American education system is doing by letting these foreign students come in and go to college is, in fact, fair and that the education system offers many opportunities for these learners. One ...
