Even so in today’s society it is very hard to find a job or even keep one, because it seems more people are unemployed or getting laid off. If this was to happen during the time the parent had a child almost ready to go to college, it would be extremely challenging for them to pay their way through college. Even if their spouse decided they wanted to go back to college to get a better degree and become something with a higher position, they would most likely struggle with paying all the costs.

Without financial aid is $43,938 for tuition and $58,607 for tuition, room, board and fees combined. A good estimation of attending Harvard for a semester the expenses would be around sixty-two thousand to sixty-eight thousand dollars (Tuition and Expenses par. 3). The costs of room and board is outrageous. As is books and other fees are not expensive enough, some colleges it is up to nineteen thousand just to stay on campus. Which to me, blows my mind. Colleges should all be the same no matter rural, city, or metropolitan.
