These two poems are eerily similar in several different ways especially being that they were written at drastically different eras. The topic of oppression expressed in each one of these poems is so profound that it becomes the focus of them bo. London by Blake was written in regards to the French Revolution, a time of poverty, plague and famine.[ The French Revolution was a time of social and political upheaval in French and European history. These two separate incidences have been chronicled as being plagued by death and famine but the poverty has been the ruin of many nations.
