Professional competition allows employers to draw the best performance possible out of those that work for them. Professional competition is spurred on by things such as employee of the month, sales awards, and promotional opportunities. Professional competition can provide the opportunity for one to succeed but at the same time it can backfire and cause failure as well. While many employees will react to professional competitions by stepping up their output and production there are some who will react by giving up and refusing to participate. Professional competition that causes too much stress or concern can actually cause a slow down in production and this will cause failures to occur.
