I have always enjoyed finding information about the Civil War, especially the Confederacy. To go along with that, I enjoy books about the Navy and military. I found my opportunity for a good and fun paper by combining these two into one subject. This subject is the Naval innovations, and events leading up to these innovations, proving the ingenuity of the Confederate States of America during the Civil War. The Confederate Navy was the mother of many technological advances.

After the seizing of Union shipyards, the Confederate Navy was several times stronger than it had previously been. Using the strategic positions they had gained, some good horse sense from their commanders, and a whole lot of luck, the South managed to turn the tables on the Northern water forces. CSN ships Cumberland and Pawnee were laying siege to the United States shipyard in Gosport, VA. The Confederacy was severely overpowered there and should have been defeated.
