to the moms at “Big Box Mart” racing to get the shiny new toy before the other mom, to the dad competing with his peers to make more money so he can afford the shiny new toy, the company that employs the dad that competes with other companies to make the cheapest shiny new toy, and the countries blowing each other up over the oil that t takes to fuel the company and to make that oh so simple shiny new toy.
This is a prime example of culture causing conflict. It is an engraved part of our culture and daily lives to want that shiny new toy, not caring about the conflict that it causes in order to produce it.
This is something that Amanda Little points out in her introduction of her book, Power Trip.
