Creation Story

Upon reading the two accounts of the Creation story, it is clear that there are two differing sets of Creation events. In Genesis 1:1-2:4, God is the ruler of all things, and He created the world in six days. On the first day, when God created Heaven and Earth, Earth was described as a “formless void and darkness”. This description lead me to relate the Earth during that state to resemble the atmosphere of Hell, as Hell is known to be a place that is disorganized, dark, empty and evil. Hence, when God made light shine on Earth, and created day and night, it could be seen as a symbol of separation of good and evil. of narration of Genesis 1 makes readers think that despite the fact that God created everything, the author seems to relate human as God-like and was a resemblance of God, rather than below God in power. This view is reinforced when the author wrote: “Then God said, “Let us make human-kind in our image, according to our likeness; and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea…so God created humankind in his image…” Much as God had command over all things, humankind was given authority to dominate all living things on Earth. Furthermore, the illustration of God in the account of Genesis 1 resembled characteristics of human; God was not depicted as the one of highest supreme, the almighty ruler. Rather, God made the seventh day a day to rest from his hard work and to relax and appreciate all that he had accomplished.
