According to Plato’s Five Dialogues, there are two concepts about how should an individual behave towards the state if the state is doing unjust actions. In Apology, Socrates claims that people do not need to obey the law if the law is unjust; on the other hand, he states that people are asked not to act against the state in Crito. Even though a human being is facing the risk of death, he/she must act whatever is right no matter disobeying the law or not. In order to determine whether an action is justifiable, people should see if it is a right thing to do; not see if the person behaves good or bad (Apology 28b). People should never have an agreement with someone who is not acting justly; even it is the agreement between the state and the citizens. People need to be brave to speak up against any unjust and wrong actions.
On contrast, Socrates has a different perception in the Crito. He claims that people should not behave against the state.
