Josef Mengele Before WWII

Josef Mengele was the oldest son of Karl and Walburga Mengele; his very wealthy parents. He was born on March 16, 1911 in GĂĽnzburg, Germany, near the city of Ulm. In 1935, he earned a PhD in physical anthropology from the University of Munich and two years later he became the assistant of Dr. Otmar von Verschuer. Later, in 1938, Mengele join the Nazi party and two years later, joined the SS. He was then drafted into the military in 1940.

Moreover, Mengele arrived in Auschwitz on May 30, 1943 and so did his infamous selection and experiments on the unlucky souls that were there. He often looked for twins during his selection for his wicked experiments, but he would also take in the aid of trained medical professionals among the prisoners to perform the more grisly tasks and to carry out autopsies upon his dead victims. Some of the gruesome experiments that Mengele performed includes, trying to change the colour of people's eyes. He would perform many experiments in effort to try to figure out how to artificially change eye colour. He would also collect the eyes of his murdered victims to furnish "research material" to his colleague Karin Magnussen, a eye pigmentation researcher at KWI .
