These statistics help Zinczenko argue that obesity is a social problem rather than an individual problem, since everyone bears the financial burden of obesity. Also, hyperbole was used to show how fast food restaurants give inaccurate calorie information. For example, when discussing the nutritional value of a salad, Zinczenko states "[a] dd a serving of the 280 calorie dressing...and you're suddenly up around 1,040 calories" (Zinczenko 197).
