Ethiopia is a country of rich culture, and history. The people of Ethiopia stick by their beliefs and keep the culture that has been there since the beginning, without worrying about developing to a new modern way of life. Ethiopia even has its own alphabet and calendar, which is roughly 8 years behind the Gregorian calendar that is used in most of the rest of the world.
Ethiopia is located in east-central Africa, and is bordered by Sudan, Somalia, Djibouti, Kenya, and Entrea. Ethiopia is mountainous and the Blue Nile River runs through Ethiopia and into Sudan. Over 33 percent practice Islam religion and just over 2 percent still practice traditional Ethiopian religion. There are still some traditional African religions in Ethiopia also. The religions in Ethiopia are separated by region. Christians live in the high lands, while Muslims and those who practice traditional African religions mostly inhabit the low lands and places in the Far East and far south of the country.
Ethiopia had the fasted growing GDP for a non-oil-dependant country in Africa, in 2008 and since 1991. And Ethiopia has been working to improve the economy, though political problems and the drought have caused problems in that area. Ethiopia has a long history of droughts, and due to feuds in the communist economical structure, these droughts have always been very close to devastating for the country’s people.
