An true example of someone who deserves a peaceful and less painful death is Susan Hess. She suffers from multiple myeloma, a rare bone marrow cancer that destroys the blood, bones, immune system, and sometimes the liver and spleen. She believes that euthanasia should be legalized. She states, “the worst of it is the disintegration of the skeleton...Unless one is lucky enough to die of sepsis first, the death is long and agonizing. The act of sitting up can fracture the vertebrae and lifting up the dinner tray can fracture both forearms. Who deserves that? For what principle?” Her reasoning is easy to agree with. So how can someone tell a person who is suffering from such an agonizing disease that they must endure the pain and die on their own? That is simply heartless and inhuman. If a living will has not been established and the person can not make the decision for themselves, then it should be a decision for the family and doctors to make together. The doctors are the experts and have a good view of whether the incompetent person will come out of a coma.
