The definition of a terminal illness includes anyone who is reliant on treatment to continue living. Regardless, of how routine the treatment maybe, the person is expected to die within a year a month or even a week. All that is really required is that the person’s illness would eventually result in death. In an article from the Economist it is stated that “Death after all is cheaper than treatment. It’s hard not to imagine health insurance companies and care organizations agreeing to pay for barbiturates that kill rather than pills that merely reduce pain.”
