It had recently come to my attention that my “old school” tube television in my living room was a little outdated. This was especially apparent when watching sports and the tops and bottom of the screen were cut off so I could not read the score or how much time was left in game. As I began to look at the different TV’s online I came across the next set of questions about the TV’s I wasn’t sure about. What was the difference between 1080p, 1080i, 720, 120 Hz, and 60 Hz? I could guess that the higher numbers were probably better, but the price increase was significant so I wanted to know why. What I quickly learned from a little more research was that the numbers 1080 or 720 referred to the amount of pixels the TV used. The higher the number the clearer and better the TV would look. I knew right away that I was going to have to get the 1080 because I wanted the picture to be as clear as possible. However, I wasn’t sure the difference between 1080p and 1080i.
