In Dorian Solot’s writing she states, “The solution, I believe, is to encourage and support healthy, stable relationships and families in all their forms, instead of linking so many unrelated benefits to the piece of paper we call a marriage license”(492). Therefore, people of the current generation need to realize that the term “family” is expanding to a more complex and meaningful definition. Not all families are legalized; it does not need to be written to see a family’s loving, caring, healthy relationship. As Solot stated, it seems to be more correct these days to see families in all forms. However, as it is the goal for people of our generation to see a family as more than a blood related, or legalized relationship, others still see things differently.
