The 32nd President of the United States,
led the nation through the greatest war in history, World War 2. By doing
this, FDR made his mark in history with his supreme leadership and
optimistic views.
January 30, 1882, marked the date where a political and national
hero was born in Hyde Park, New York. was his
name and he was born to Sara Delano and James Roosevelt. FDR grew up in a
good neighborhood, with a steady financial background in his family due to

It was 1932, when Roosevelt, would acquire the renowned title of
President of the United States by winning the election. It was sort of a
platform for his campaign, as he said in Chicago Stadium, “I pledge you, I
pledge myself, to a new deal for the American people....This is more than a
political campaign’ it is a call to arms. Give me your help, not to win
votes alone, but to win in this crusade to restore America to it’s
greatness.” (Freedman, p.82) As soon as Roosevelt was sworn in it seemed
as though he was already making changes. In 1933 Roosevelt introduced the
New Deal. It merely stated the three tasks Roosevelt wanted to accomplish,
relief, recovery, and reform. (Freedman, p.94) Though it would be a

the Neutrality Act of 1935.
The act prohibited Americans from supplying aid/arms to countries at war.
(Freedman, p.134) After Congress finally realized this act was only adding
to the mayhem, they revised the act which allowed cash and carry.
“We must become the great arsenal of democracy.” (Straub, p.64)
As the war continued, FDR did the same. He pursued many plans/acts to help
the other countries in their time of need. In 1938 Roosevelt pleaded with
Congress to repeal the arms embargo which was enforced at that time.
