Second, major scientific inventions like the telegraph that revolutionized long-distance communication in America. Furthermore, Nathalie mentions “ The land was free and the price was right.” The price women had to pay was to leave everything behind. Their homes, their families, their culture. However, the price was justified by the major opportunities offered in the West.
