Home Away From Home

American society has suffered a lot from tragedy. Tragedies like 9/11 Hurricane Katrina affected a lot of Americans in many different ways. We just didn't think these events would ever occur on our land. When these catastrophes took place they changed the way we handle certain things forever. We started the tightening of security, discrimination toward foreign nationals, and converting to using other types of fuels to curb our dependency on crude oil.

Although American civil liberties are being hurt, our views of foreign nationals are deteriorating also. In America we have many races living amongst each other and if our views of other nationals become distorted then we Americans will no longer be standing united. Posner asserts that "in hindsight we know that interning Japanese Americans did not shorten World War II" (482). Well In saying that, I guess interning Arabic Americans wouldn't help shorten the Iraq war huh? The views of many Americans are becoming distorted because of 9/11 and other terrorist acts committed upon the United States of America.
