on the battlefield. Many soldiers that enlisted in the war, enlisted because of the propaganda the government was creating. They romanticized and glorified war to make it appealing for young men to pack their bags and go fight for their county. In Dr. Babovic's lecture, there was a piece of propaganda showing women and children of Britain watching their soldiers go to war from their window. This example encouraged young men to fight by telling them the women and children expect you to fight for their country, and if you don't, you could be outcasted. Similarly, in the novel, Remarque describes the feeling of all the young men before they get deployed as euphoric and joyful.
