Thomas Edison once said that "Inventing was 1 percent inspiration and 99 percent perspiration." This means that hard and careful work is most of inventing and a small part of it is thinking. Mistakes aren't usually positives things they don't lead to great discoveries as some others may say. Even if they inspire something, they don't directly create make it a perfect example of this is the microwave.
