Dear Editor,
I would like to address the controversy of Huckleberry Finn. My child is in middle school and teachers have had to put a hold on allowing the children to read this book and being able to teach the children about African- American history. I am an African- American mother, I have read this book and I am not offended, for those days are long gone and can’t and won’t be that way again.

I believe it is how the parents bring up the children today. It’s a painful past but that is where it belongs, in the past. We don’t need to bring our children up to be prejudiced.
